Get Over Yourself, Marketing isn’t all About You so Get Over Yourself!

My husband and I are reading John Maxwell’s book, “Everyone Communicates, Few Connect.”  In this book he talks about how we connect with other people.  The truth is that not many of us actually connect with others when we talk with them.  Most of us communicate, but not many actually connect.  How do you get over yourself and actually connect with other people?

People today are busy and bombarded in all directions.  They will only listen to you if you can show that there is something in it for them.  You have to make a real connection to show them you care. According to Mr. Maxwell there are three questions that everyone asks when connecting with others.

1.     Do you care for me?  Think about the best experiences you have had with others.  If you can recall those moments they were probably when you thought someone really cared about you.  Business people can make others feel important.  In politics you can win someone to your cause if you first convince them that you are a real friend.  In entertainment you can get them to love you by loving them first.  In ministry you have to convince your audience that you love them to show them you care.
2.     Can you help me?  There is an old sales saying:  nobody wants to be sold, but everyone wants to be helped.  Successful people who connect with people always keep in mind that the other person wants to know how you can help them.  Get over yourself it isn’t about your product or feature and how great it is, it’s about how you can help the other person.  It is how you can be their trusted friend.
3.     Can I Trust You?  This is probably the most important one.  I know in every situation I want to be told the truth.  I don’t like the old “used car salesman” line.  We get bombarded with that everyday.  There is always someone who can give us everything we need, for very little money, and they will do it all for you.  Trust me, that’s a line of sh--.  It doesn’t work that way.  If anyone tries to tell you that you can have a home based business with very little money, no work and no training, they are lying and not to be trusted.

In sales and marketing you have to remember to get over yourself, add value to the lives of others, and be a person that they can trust.  Help others, be trustworthy and you will find it much easier to make that sale, helping you and your customer.

We are here to help you become the best you that you can be in all areas of your life.  Do you have something nagging at you telling you that you are NOT fulfilling the purpose you we put on Earth? I want to help you.  I want to help 10 people fulfill their purpose in 2016.  You must go through a qualification process.
