We always talk about how we have a “free will.” Do you really have free will? Do we really have a free will? We have a will, but it isn’t free from
influence. From the time we are born the
people around us influence our will. Our
parents are the first people to influence us.
Where we are born, who are parents are, where we live, what religions
background we believe, and what kind of education we have is not in our
control. Our environment and the people
around us control it. So just get over
yourself, you are more programmed that you think.
We are programmed at a very early age and we program
everything through that programming.
That is why we don’t understand the nature of some people. Especially the people who are from places
completely foreign to us. We don’t
understand why they can put up with things we can’t put up with. We are
programmed in American and the Western World to have a certain living
standard. People in other countries can
live with much less that we are capable of living with. We have a high standard of living in this
country.
However, there are things in our programming that really
mess us up. What if we were abused when
we were growing up? That can keep us
from being the person that we are supposed to be. Many people face serious issues from past
abuse. They are completely incapable of
getting past the past.
There is hope; we can be reprogrammed. We can change. It’s all about what we put into our
lives. We become the five people that we
are around. That is what many of the
leadership guru’s say. Who are you
around? Who influences you?
If you want to be a go-getter, then you need to be around
other people that challenge you in that area.
Find people that are doing the thing that you want to do and hang around
them. Perhaps you will have to join an
organization or go after someone that is doing the thing that you want to
do. It’s not that difficult. You will get better.
Speaking of getting better.
You can always get better. I
remember hearing the story of Derek Hough.
He is the top professional on “Dancing With the Stars.” He has won more trophies than any other
professional. He was pared with Bindi
Irwin last season. She is the daughter
of the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin.
Derek said Bindi taught him how to face adversity with joy. No matter how good you are you can always get
better because of the people you are around.
So go out and find good people and you will improve.
