What Will You Live For?

“For everything comes from God alone.  Everything lives by his power and for His glory.”  Romans 11:36

Living your purpose is not always that easy.  It is easier to do something different many times.  However, your purpose we have to live a bigger life.  Do we shrink back into a comfortable, self-centered life or do we get out of our comfort zone and go all out for the rest of our lives.   What will you live for, the glory of God or for your own glory.  God will give you what you need to live for Him if you make the choice to do so.

How can you live your purpose?  Here are a few things that we can do.

1.    Love each other.  It seems like we live in such a divided world today.  We are divided by politics, race, and even occupation.  We seem to use it to everything to divide and hate.  We are called to love one another.  Where there is hate bring love.  Where there is discourse bring peace.  Paul said, “Accept each other just as Christ has accepted you; then God will be glorified.” (John 13:35)

2.    Serve others.  God designed each one of us with a unique gift, talent, and skills.   He did not give those to us to us for selfish reasons.  He gave them to us to serve others.  They are given to benefit others, not for our benefit.  For example, some people are just gifted in making money.  We aren’t to use this gift for our own greed but to help others.

3.    Self sacrifice.  This means we sacrifice for the cause.  Jesus sacrificed His life for us.  I know that I can be very selfish many times.  I would rather sleep than get out of bed for any reason, believe me.  I would rather spend money on new clothes than give my money to help. But our purpose means we sacrifice our time, money, and ourselves for others.

When it comes to living your life with purpose the majority of it has to do with loving each other, serving others and self-sacrifice.  It isn’t always the easy way out, but it is the most rewarding for you and the people in your life.  So what will you live for, yourself or others?
